Overview
Mass Fusion was a Boston-based energy corporation specializing in fusion power technology. It was a major player in the Commonwealth's pre-war economy and a rival to other energy firms. Its fusion cores and reactors power much of the technology found in the wasteland.
History & Pre-War Operations
Mass Fusion held the contract for much of the Commonwealth's energy infrastructure, including the massive Mass Fusion Building in downtown Boston. The company developed advanced fusion containment and distribution systems for civilian and government use. Its rivalry with other energy corporations featured in pre-war corporate espionage.
Products & Technology
Mass Fusion produced fusion cores, reactor components, and the specialized containment systems that made safe fusion power possible. Its skyscraper headquarters housed executive offices and research floors, later exposed as a site of interest to the Institute. Fusion technology from Mass Fusion remains the wasteland's premium power source.
Post-War Legacy
The Mass Fusion Building became a contested site in Fallout 4, central to the Brotherhood of Steel and Institute conflict. Scavenged fusion cores from Mass Fusion equipment keep power armor running across the Commonwealth. The company's failure to complete its reactor projects contributed to the pre-war energy crisis.
Notable Appearances
Mass Fusion appears in Fallout 4 (Mass Fusion Building and disposal sites). The building also plays a role in the Brotherhood of Steel and Institute endings of the main questline.
