Overview

Diamond City Radio is the signature broadcast of the Commonwealth in 2287, transmitted from the stands of Fenway Park inside the walled settlement of Diamond City. It is hosted by Travis Miles, an anxious young DJ whose on-air evolution from stammering wallflower to confident broadcaster is one of the game's more charming subplots.

History & Background

The station was established in the years after Diamond City's founding, using salvaged pre-War broadcasting equipment to reach the wider Commonwealth. Travis Miles inherited the role of DJ, living in the shadow of his father, the settlement's late mayor, and struggling with crippling stage fright. Depending on the player's actions in the Confidence Man quest, Travis either overcomes his fears and becomes a magnetic personality or remains the nervous wreck the Commonwealth has come to expect.

Content & Format

Diamond City Radio plays an eclectic mix of pre-War swing, jazz, and pop records, including enduring wasteland favorites, with Travis's patter weaving in local news, weather, and commentary on the Sole Survivor's deeds. After his transformation, Travis's broadcasts grow notably sharper, wittier, and more confident, and he begins publicly roasting raiders and praising the player's heroics. The station also airs emergency bulletins tied to main quest events, such as the arrival of the Brotherhood of Steel's airship.

Wasteland Significance

Diamond City Radio is the Commonwealth's premier source of entertainment and information, giving scattered settlements and travelers a shared soundtrack and a sense of connection to the region's largest city. Its coverage of the Sole Survivor's actions helps define the player's reputation across the wasteland. The station embodies the Commonwealth's stubborn persistence of pre-War culture amid post-apocalyptic hardship.

Notable Appearances

Diamond City Radio is a fixture of Fallout 4, and Travis Miles appears in person in the Diamond City market and the Dugout Inn, where the Confidence Man quest plays out. The station's music library, including tracks like The Wanderer and Uranium Fever, is among the most recognized in the series, and the studio is visible in Diamond City's stands.
