Fog Crawler (Enraged)
Creatures & Mutants · Source: Fallout 4: Far Harbor
Fog crawlers are enormous mutated crustacean-arthropod hybrids that stalk the radioactive fog of Mount Desert Island off the Maine coast. Standing eight to twelve feet tall on multiple segmented legs, they are among the most dangerous non-legendary creatures on the Eastern Seaboard. The 'enraged' variant is a designation applied to fog crawlers encountered in a heightened combat state or those that have undergone additional mutation from extended exposure to The Island's concentrated fog banks.
An enraged fog crawler exhibits several distinguishing characteristics: increased size compared to standard specimens, a darker, more heavily armored carapace, and significantly more aggressive attack patterns. Where standard fog crawlers may pause between attacks, enraged specimens attack in continuous, overwhelming sequences that leave little room for counter-attack. Their regenerative capabilities appear enhanced, with wounds visibly closing during combat.
The enraged state may represent either a permanent mutation variant — certain fog crawlers that have absorbed more of The Island's mutagenic fog — or a temporary combat escalation triggered by injury or nest defense. Trappers on The Island, who hunt fog crawlers for their valuable tissue and carapace materials, consider an enraged fog crawler the most dangerous quarry on the island, exceeding even the Mirelurk Queen in terms of the sustained threat it presents to an unprepared hunting party.
