The Boomers

Factions & Armies · Source: Fallout: New Vegas (2010), quest 'Volare!'

Overview

The Boomers are the fiercely isolationist survivors of Nellis Air Force Base, a self-sufficient community that has lived under a rain of artillery for generations — and has the firepower to make anyone regret approaching.

History & Background

The Boomers are descendants of pre-war Nellis personnel and their families who endured the war in the base's shelters. Cut off from the world, they raised their children to worship two things: the bombs and the machines that deliver them. Their howitzers and the sunken B-29 bomber are the centerpieces of their strange faith in explosives.

Details & Timeline

2281: the Boomers have blasted every outsider who came near for years. When the Courier seeks their help for the battle at Hoover Dam, they must prove themselves: surviving the artillery gauntlet, winning over the elders, and helping the boy Loyal restore the B-29 for a bombing run. Earn their trust and the Boomers' guns — the heaviest in the Mojave — will speak for the Courier's side in the war.

Wasteland Significance

The Boomers command the most powerful artillery in the region, and their decision to fight — or stay home — can turn the Second Battle of Hoover Dam. Their culture also shows how the wasteland's communities can grow strange and strong in isolation, preserving the old world's deadliest knowledge.
