Mr. Gutsy
Technology & Robotics · Source: Fallout 3, Fallout 4, Fallout 76
Overview
The Mr. Gutsy is the military-grade variant of General Atomics' Mr. Handy, refitted with weapons and armor for combat service. It served the U.S. armed forces in conflicts from Alaska to China.
History & Development
General Atomics adapted the successful Mr. Handy chassis into a combat platform under military contract, swapping domestic tools for armaments. Thousands of Mr. Gutsies served in the Anchorage campaign and home-front defense. Post-war, they remain on guard across military installations and government buildings.
Technical Specifications
The Mr. Gutsy mounts a saw-blade arm, a plasma flamer or blaster arm, and reinforced plating over the standard hover chassis. Its military AI is more aggressive than its domestic counterpart, with combat protocols optimized for crowd suppression. It retains the Mr. Handy's agility despite the added weight.
Wasteland Usage & Variants
Mr. Gutsies defend armories, checkpoints, and ruins, engaging anything they classify as hostile. Commonwealth and Appalachian survivors encounter them as major mid-tier threats, while salvaged units can be reprogrammed. They are frequent targets for robot-tech enthusiasts.
Notable Appearances
Mr. Gutsies appear across Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76, guarding locations like the National Guard training yard and the General Atomics plant.
