Fat Man (Mini-Nuke Launcher)
Weapons & Gear · Source: Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, Fallout 76
Overview
The Fat Man is a shoulder-fired tactical launcher that hurls miniature nuclear warheads at its targets. It is the most destructive portable weapon in the wasteland, able to level buildings and vaporize anything in its blast radius.
History & Development
Named after the atomic bomb dropped on Nagasaki, the Fat Man was developed pre-war as a man-portable nuclear delivery system. It was issued to elite U.S. units for demolition and anti-armor work. Post-war, surviving launchers and their mini nuke ammunition became legendary trophies.
Technical Specifications
The launcher fires mini nukes with a devastating blast radius and lingering radiation. It has no guidance system, and its backblast makes close-range use suicidal. Reloads are slow and ammunition is extremely scarce, making every shot count.
Wasteland Usage & Variants
Raider gangs and military remnants hoard Fat Men for intimidation, while the Brotherhood of Steel fields them for heavy support. Variants include the MIRV launcher and the Nuka-World Nuka-Nuke. The weapon remains the ultimate heavy hitter in wasteland arsenals.
Notable Appearances
The Fat Man appears in Fallout 3, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76, delivering some of the most memorable explosive moments in the series.
