Robobrain
Technology & Robotics · Source: Fallout 3, Fallout 4 (Automatron DLC), Fallout 76
Overview
The Robobrain is a RobCo Industries robot built around a preserved human brain, combining organic cognition with a mechanical chassis. It is among the most controversial pieces of pre-war robotics.
History & Development
RobCo developed the Robobrain program in the years before the war, with official records claiming the brains came from willing volunteers. Later discoveries, including Mechanist-era records, suggest many brains were taken from prisoners and the condemned without true consent. Robobrains were deployed in labs, prisons, and military sites.
Technical Specifications
The unit's brain is suspended in a protective casing and linked to a hover-capable chassis with multi-purpose arms. Robobrains possess human-level reasoning but are prone to instability, and some retain fragments of their former identities. Their processing speed makes them dangerous opponents despite modest armor.
Wasteland Usage & Variants
Robobrains guard research facilities and command centers across the wastelands, from the Capital Wasteland to Appalachia. The Mechanist's lair housed heavily modified units, and the Automatron DLC allows players to build their own. Their brain components are prized for advanced robot crafting.
Notable Appearances
Robobrains appear in Fallout 3, Fallout 4's Automatron DLC, and Fallout 76, with notable clusters at the RobCo research facility and the Mechanist's lair.
