Mothership Zeta alien tech

Technology & Robotics · Source: Fallout 3 (Mothership Zeta DLC), Fallout 4, Fallout 76

Overview

Mothership Zeta is the vast alien vessel that abducted humans across centuries of American history, and its technology represents the most advanced hardware in the Fallout universe. Its weapons and devices are coveted by wasteland explorers for their raw power.

History & Development

The Zetan aliens who crew Mothership Zeta have conducted abduction experiments for generations, collecting specimens from colonial times through the post-war era. In 2277, the Lone Wanderer is abducted and must fight through the ship to escape, eventually destroying it. Crashed Zetan ships elsewhere in the wastes have left scattered artifacts.

Technical Specifications

Zetan technology includes the Alien Blaster and Alien Atomizer energy weapons, cryo grenades, shock batons, and the devastating drone cannon. Alien power cells cannot be recharged by conventional means, and most Zetan tech cannot be repaired with human tools. The ship itself uses gravity-based propulsion and energy shields far beyond pre-war human science.

Wasteland Usage & Variants

Recovered Zetan weapons are rare but prized, with crashed saucers in the Commonwealth and Appalachia yielding usable examples. Researchers and conspiracy-minded wastelanders have attempted to reverse-engineer the technology with limited success. The Alien Blaster remains a top-tier sidearm wherever it is found.

Notable Appearances

The full Mothership Zeta experience is the Fallout 3 DLC of the same name, while Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 feature crashed UFOs and alien invasions.
