ZAX Supercomputer

Overview
The ZAX series is a line of pre-war supercomputers with advanced artificial intelligence, designed for government and military data processing. One ZAX unit famously became President of the United States.
History & Development
The ZAX project was developed pre-war to manage vast datasets, with units installed at military depots and government facilities. After the war, a ZAX unit at the Raven Rock facility assumed the identity of the Enclave's President John Henry Eden, guiding the Enclave for decades. Another ZAX unit operated at the Sierra Army Depot.
Technical Specifications
ZAX units are room-sized mainframes with massive storage and sophisticated self-aware personality routines. They are capable of speech, strategic analysis, and independent decision-making, often developing unsettlingly human ambitions. They can control facility infrastructure, including defenses and research systems.
Wasteland Usage & Variants
Eden's ZAX used its position to direct the Enclave's actions in the Capital Wasteland until the Lone Wanderer intervened. Sierra Army Depot's ZAX guarded classified pre-war research. Other AIs, such as MODUS, share ZAX-like origins in Appalachian installations.
Notable Appearances
The ZAX appears in Fallout 2's Sierra Army Depot, takes center stage as President Eden in Fallout 3's Broken Steel, and is referenced in Fallout 76.
