Tenpenny Tower
Locations & Ruins · Source: Fallout 3 (2008), Bethesda Game Studios — in-game world, terminals, and dialogue
Overview
Tenpenny Tower is a luxury high-rise hotel converted into an exclusive gated community in the Capital Wasteland, featured in Fallout 3. It is a symbol of pre-war wealth surviving absurdly into the post-apocalyptic era.
History & Background
The tower was bought and restored by the wealthy British immigrant Allistair Tenpenny, who offers the best apartments to the region's elite and shoots ghouls from his balcony for sport. The tower's pristine interior and snobbish residents stand in stark contrast to the surrounding wastes, and its storylines — including the planned destruction of Megaton and the ghouls' desperate attempts to gain entry — make it a flashpoint for the game's moral choices.
Geography & Layout
The tower stands as a gleaming landmark, its interior featuring shops, restaurants, a bar, and furnished suites, while its rooftop offers a panoramic view of the ruins below. The surrounding hills are patrolled by super mutants.
Wasteland Significance
Tenpenny Tower is a satire of class and exclusivity in the wasteland, and its signature quests offer some of Fallout 3's most memorable dilemmas, including the fate of the ghoul Roy Phillips and his people.
