Overview
Big Town is a small settlement in the Capital Wasteland populated by the young adults exiled from Little Lamplight, featured in Fallout 3. It is a struggling community perpetually threatened by super mutants.
History & Background
The town formed when teens and young adults from Little Lamplight, too old to stay, settled in the ruins of a pre-war mining and industrial site. Its residents, led by figures like Red and Shorty, face constant attacks from the super mutants of Vault 87, who kidnap settlers. The player can help defend the town and rescue its abducted residents in a memorable side quest.
Geography & Layout
Big Town is a modest collection of shacks and industrial ruins enclosed by a defensive wall, with a medical clinic, a small bar, and a mutant-infested supply route leading out of town.
Wasteland Significance
Big Town illustrates the fragility of wasteland settlements and the consequences of Little Lamplight's exile system, and it offers several memorable quests early in Fallout 3.
